Such is the message that is trying to be portrayed by the Conservative base:

Gold Bubble?
[info]theantirush
Yay, my first real post!

You know, no one seems to be discussing this subject, but if people keep putting their high hopes in gold will the bubble eventually burst? Normally, gold is a smart investment in a bad economy, but the economy is recovering. During the late '90s, gold was cheap, at rock-bottom prices because the economy was in a state of constant growth.

As we are aware, gold is above $1100, but most of that growth came in the shaky economy of the 2000's. Eventually, we will get back to a state of normalcy. In 2010, when the jobless rate starts to decline (according to forecasts) we can officially declare the recession over. That's bad news for gold, though, the price of which goes down when the stock market (and the economy as a whole) goes up.

As we should be aware of by now, a bubble occurs when most people believe it is time to invest in something, when there is a euphoria amongst the general population. This has been the case with technology and housing, and if historical patterns are correct, it may also be the case for gold. Now everyone seems to think that it is a good time for buying gold, the same when everyone thought it was a good time to invest in technology. People think it is a safe haven from inflation, when in reality it is a bad investment and is not an inflationary hedge. The price of gold, during the spectacular inflation of the 1980's and into the 1990's (when it reached a bottom) fell dramatically. What's more, many economic gains are made when people invest when people think it's a bad time for investing, that way one can take the most advantage of their investments when the economy does recover.

In short, not even gold may save you now. People who think it will may end up losing the most.

Welcome to Theantirush!
[info]theantirush
This is Theantirush.  It is the official blog of Clarke Macbeth (that is the last I'm going to give out my real name in a post).  So, you're looking at this, and are probably wondering what this blog is all about.  Or perhaps you already know.  Either way, here's what I'm doing and why I'm here:

>Theantirush is a center-left politcal blog that aims to point out the views and political opinions of liberals.  This blog will use headlines, statistics, and visuals to make arguments.  I will also post my opinion on certain issues.  Some of my views may be considered offensive, but after seeing what Rush Limbaugh is doing it's only fair.  Theantirush is also a place where other people can share their liberal views and people on either side can comment on those beliefs.  However, any threatening comments will be removed and you will be reported and banned.  Other highly offensive comments will also be removed.

>The primary purpose of this blog is to disprove false statements from the right, as well as poke fun at right-wing pundits.  We also will report on the happenings of the left, and post our left-wing facts and opinions.

>Theantirush is sympathetic towards furries.  Furries, for the most part, are liberal.  According to a recent and comprehensive poll, furries are 33.4% liberal, 26.5% moderate, and 9.7% conservative, (the rest being apolitical or "other") respectively.  However, I won't mention furries often, because this is a political blog, and serves the purpose of politics.  Any trolling on the exceptionally rare furry-related or other articles will be removed, as well as any "anti-furry" post, and you will be banned.

>Theantirush will NOT report on any sport-related event unless it is somehow tied with politics, because we know it will anger people rooting for the other team.  Any post that is not a comment on sporting events will be removed unless it has relevance to politics.

>Theantirush will NOT keep track of anybody's personal information (i.e. real name, address, phone number, e-mail) so I will not be able to tell somebody something unless it's through Livejournal.  However, I will post on other blogs and add people as friends.

>Theantirush does NOT accept donations or anything else of monetary value from any source.  My service to you is free of charge, and it will stay that way.

>THIS IS NOT MY PERSONAL BLOG!  I do not post anything personal about myself or what's going on in my life.  I will not post anything personal upon request, and I will almost never refer to myself in a story or post.  If you're going to post in any way other than commenting, then you should do the same.

>Most important, though, Theantirush is NOT: Socialist, communist, nazist, Marxist, fascist, or anything else that neo-conservatives constantly and falsely accuse liberals of being.

So, I hope you enjoy what you see.  Our sister YouTube channel is theclarkeshow.  However, I do not post often.  Most of my audio messages and questions will come in through telephone, and I will copypaste those messages to Youtube if that is at all possible.  I am no A/V wizard, and know very little about editing and effects, and that is the reason the videos will not look professional.
